Right-Left , Left-Middle
No fundamental is more important than a good grip, but for the high handicapper, few things are more confusing. Traditional instruction gives you several different ways to check yourself: The position of your palms, how many knuckles you can see, or where the Vs formed by your thumbs and forefingers point. Do you choose one, or check them all?
It's much simpler if you have one thing to check. Remember this phrase: "Right-left, left-middle," referring to the Vs formed by the thumb and forefinger of each hand. When you put your right hand on the club, the V should point to your left shoulder ("right-left"). The V formed by the fingers of your left hand should point to a spot in the middle of your left shoulder and chin ("left-middle").
Repeat "right-left, left-middle" every time you set up for a shot, and you will soon ingrain a proper grip.
